Mani Haghighi has been one of the most significant figures in Iranian cinema of the past couple of decades. A graduate of philosophy from McGill University and a member of a dynastic family of cultural figures, including his grandfather, legendary avant-garde filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan, Haghighi directed his first feature film in 2003, and has since enriched Iranian cinema as a director, writer and actor. He has collaborated with other influential artists, including Asghar Farhadi, for whom he co-wrote the screenplay for ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ and acted in ‘About Elly’. His two latest directorial effort, “A Dragon Arrives!” and “The Pig” both played in competition at the Berlin Film Festival, where they were met with critical acclaim. At Phoenix Comedy Film Festival, we are honored to host Mr. Haghighi for a directing workshop . This program is scheduled for June 9th.
